You may have heard of Bill Britt, one of the most
successful distributors in Amway. Some years ago,
20/20 did a feature story on Amway. They spent 19
minutes interviewing whiners and complainers --

several distributors who had failed and showed the

garages full of products they couldn't sell.

During the last minute of the show, Mr. Britt was

interviewed in front of his palatial home. He was

asked, "Mr. Britt, this business has obviously

worked for you. What's your secret?"
He replied, "There is no secret. I simply showed

the plan to 1200 people. 900 said, 'No.' and only

300 signed up. Out of those 300, only 85 did

anything at all. Out of those 85 only 35 were

serious, and out of those 35, 11 made me a

millionaire."

If you are like most people, you are constantly

trying to figure out how to earn extra income and

still be able to have some free time to spend with

your family. The ways to do this are varied and

will depend on your skills and your desire and most

of the ways to earn extra money will require time

and effort, commensurate with the amount of extra

money you want to earn.

Unless you come up with

new get-rich-quick scheme and con a bunch of other

people out of their money, which is illegal, there

really is no way to make a ton of money in a short

period of time as may be promised in some ads you

receive in your inbox. Remember the old axiom that

if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is

too good to be true.

Unfortunately, if you want to

earn extra money you are going to have to work for

it and how much extra money you want will depend on

how much work you are willing to do. There are many

legitimate methods of earning extra money at home,

using your computer and your skills for which

people are willing to pay. While many of the

opportunities may offer lucrative promises,

breaking into the fields may be a little

tougher.

For example, trade shows and even county

fairs generate tons of sales leads for companies

and in order to send out promotional information,

all the entry forms used for daily drawings will

have to be entered into a data base. Typically, a

company’s staff will not have time to do this so

they hire outside help to get it done in a timely

fashion. This company will probably seek out help

from someone they know, being reluctant to hand

over all the potential sales information to a

stranger, not counting how willing they may be to

mail it out to someone they do not know. There

are ads that promote becoming a medical

transcriptionist but what the ads do not tell you

that medical professionals will want to work with

someone with a proven track record for accuracy.

You should find out if there are any companies near

your home that hire transcriptionists so you can

get a start once you complete the intense training.

It is more than just typing what you hear on a tape.

Online businesses are great and can good extra income
if you become fluent in marketing for the internet.

Understand the best way to promote an online business

before you start your own can make a crucial difference

in your success at creating extra income. Letting your

business be known is critical, as is excellent customer

service to keep your customers, but do not expect overnight
riches.

It has always been said that necessity is the

mother of invention and coming up with ideas to

earn extra money seems easier when you really need

to do so. When trying to earn extra income ideas

may seem a little far-fetched at first, but if you

consider the ideas they may seem workable.

When looking to earn extra money you have to remember

the idea is not to replace the money you are

already earning. In other words, do not give up a

regular job in order to earn money from another

source. Money earned that way is not extra and you

may have trouble staying caught up. Rather, any

time and effort you put into earning extra money

has to be above and beyond what is normally

expended.

A part time job in retail is always

possible and with many 24-hour stores it is

possible to find a part time job that you can work

around your current schedule. Although working out

of the house, traveling to a job site, will also

take time away from your family. You may want to

consider a part time career in wholesaling in which

you purchase merchandise at wholesale prices and

resell it either at craft shows or online.

find a really good price on quality merchandise

that you can advertise and sell. Develop a retail

website on which to sell this type of merchandise

and then keep your eyes open for more bargains.

With many of the online pass-through banking

companies offering a free secure shopping cart, you

can achieve the sales and collect money from your

buyers quickly and safely. Many even offer buy now

buttons and are capable of printing shipping

labels. With home pickup available from most

shipping companies, you will not have the time and

expense of taking your packages to the post

office.

Several companies are advertising how you

can make a ton of money with online auctions and

even offer to provide the product and handle all

shipping and handling. All you need is an auction

ID and the willingness to list their products on

the auction. Typically, you are also charged a

monthly fee for the privilege of listing their

merchandise. The difference between the sell price

and your cost of the merchandise, minus the listing

fees, is your profit. While this may be promising

as well as profitable, if the items do not sell, as

the one who listed the merchandise you are still

responsible for the fees.

Joining with existing

online companies to push their products is another

method of earning extra money, and several offer a

viable business model. Realize that in order for

you to achieve sales, you will need to promote your

individual website that offers the product for

ideas will have to be new and innovative and in

order for that to happen, your approach will have

to innovative as well. There are many businesses

out there offering opportunities for a home

business, and while many be be good opportunities,

the tried and true opportunities may be reaching

their peak.

Carefully review your knowledge and abilities and

determine what you do well and how it can be turned

into a home business. Whether it will be strictly

an online business or one, which is based from your

For example, you are really good with your video

Caution must be exercised

not to get caught up in the process where winning

the auction is more important than what you pay for

home, there will be times when you will have to

place that are capturing a piece of the affiliate

pie by bringing affiliate marketers together with

companies offering commissions for sales. Their

role is to manage the affiliate programs for the

companies while ensuring the sites offering

referral links are paid commissions in a timely

manner.

While a few companies manage their own

affiliate-marketing program, the use of affiliate

marketing corporations is growing with the trend

becoming more popular, freeing company resources to

concentrate on customer service. It also allows the

companies to use the information from referred

visitors for lead generation.

The landing page for

most companies contains requirements to register to

use the site. At minimum, information is requested

as opposed to mandated, enabling companies to

gather visitor information. This works well for

companies offering items or services, which are not

considered renewable. For example, shoppers for

music, food items and other disposable items will

hands, those seeking mortgage information or for

corporation will then track the activity for the

link including the number of impressions, the

number of clicks as well as the amount of purchases

and commissions due the affiliate site.

Affiliate

marketing corporations however, do not work for

free. They often receive a cut of the sale in

addition to the affiliates. While this adds to the

cost of making a sale, the companies realize that

without the additional exposure the sales probably

would not happen, and they get the additional

benefit of customer information for potential

shows that zero marketing will equal zero customers

and everyone knows that zero customers equals going

businesses and it extols the virtue of customer

service and quality. The company uses personal

contact and sales the person, not the product, and

delivers a product or service on time that performs

the function that it was promised to perform. Word

of mouth takes over from there.
